WOMAN CRUSHIN’ IT WEDNESDAY: Deborah Ann Woll on Raelle Tucker (‘The Returned’)

It’s that time of the week again, filles! Happy Woman Crushin’ It Wednesday!

This week, we’re going to marvel (or should we say Marvel?) at Daredevil star Deborah Ann Woll’s favourite Stateside industry star! While we spoke with Woll about playing secretly kickass secretary Karen Page on Daredevil recently, when we asked for her #WCIW pick, she brought us back to the show that gave her a big break, True Blood, and Raelle Tucker, a perpetual writer for the now-dead HBO vampire series.

You might not know Tucker by name, but trust us when we say you know her work. After attending the Directing Workshop for Women at the American Film Institute, Tucker became a finalist on Project Greenlight (you remember that filmmaking competition series run by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck?) and wrote and story edited for Supernatural before moving on to True Blood. The Emmy, Golden Globe, WGA and PGA nominee is now running the American version of The Returned alongside TV biggie Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel).

WCIW - Deborah and Raelle 2

She was a writer on True Blood and she’s now showrunning for The Returned and a dear friend of mine. She’s an incredible writer and a strong woman with a strong point of view, which is what we need women to do, to not be passive about their beliefs and their opinions.

I think for me right now, I look at Raelle and I admire her strength.

Catch the first season of Daredevil on Netflix and Netflix Canada right now. The Returned airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on A&E.
