What do two funny ladies do when their network sitcom gets renewed? Have a spontaneous dance party in the middle of a bigger one, of course! Oh, and come up with some wild and awesome team-up sequences for their characters.

While at the Fox’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour party at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, Calif. on Saturday, Cinefilles got a chance to talk to Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Melissa Fumero and Stephanie Beatriz, who were both in celebration mode following the show’s Season 3 pick-up earlier that day. And sure enough, before starting a serious chat about the great news and what’s ahead, the pair did a literal victory get-down, yelling “We’re dancing!” in unison.

As Cinefilles uncovered in the one-on-two interview, Fumero and Beatriz both found out about Season 3 on Saturday morning along with the press. They were apparently so flabbergasted they had to go online before getting full-on excited about anything.

“I checked the internet to make sure it was real. The internet is the most valuable source for all truth!” Beatriz said with a laugh. Fumero added, “I did the like, refresh button thing a few times and then it popped up. And then I dropped my phone and screamed. It really freaked out my friend who was at my house.”

Obviously, neither Fumero nor Beatriz could predict what’s going to happen in Season 3, seeing as Season 2 is only at its halfway point right now. But they did mention that there’s an exciting Amy/Rosa plot coming up in a February instalment.

“There’s some fun Amy and Rosa competitiveness,” Fumero said of the episode, titled “Hostages.” “We start to see them having this little competitive thing with each other. But, like, in a sisterhood kind of way!”

According to press materials about the episode, Amy and Rosa go up against each other in an attempt to get a day off. It sounds like a silly contest, but it will bring some interesting revelations. Beatriz told Cinefilles the mini tiff causes them to reevaluate the “expectations” they have for one another and “whether they can rise above [them].” She explained, “You know, like, when you think you know someone, you think they you’ve got their number and what that does to a relationship.”

Although Season 3 is pretty far away, the girls already have a vision for their future on the show and it definitely involves Amy and Rosa in more scenes together.

“Like a badass chase in a car together!” Fumero suggested excitedly when asked about the pair’s future as friends and coworkers. “Like one of them is on the roof and the other one is shooting!” Beatriz chimed in, not missing a beat.

“I mean, there’s a little bit of that in an ‘Hostages'” Fumero continued. “But I would like to see Amy and Rosa really taking a case together and taking town some perps and having a kickass girl thing. And also just to see how they celebrate it would be fun!”

I think we pretty much know how they’d celebrate and it’s already awesome.
