Why now? Director Craig Gillespie has his new movie Million Dollar Arm coming out, so why not have a look at one of his oldies.
Why not then? I feel like this is one of those movies that got lost in the crowd cause it didn’t look like much and I’m not obsessed with Gosling enough to watch all this “other” movies.
- Gosling looking’ real good with a moustache.
- A lovely little indie movie.
- Lots of sweaters and flat hair.
- Gosling proving he isn’t just all abs and pecks.
- Emily Mortimer being the best as usual.
- Life lessons about relationships and people and hearts and crap.
- Maybe a good story?
What I actually got: Oh wow, this is embarrassing… I’ve totally seen this movie before. Does that mean this movie is totally forgettable, or am I losing it? This movie has all the ingredients for an indie character study. Its giving me all the Her vibes with the artificial romance and learning about feelings and loneliness and relationships but…. shittier. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a little charming and Gosling is alright, but the whole thing is just shallow. Also, making light of mental illness always makes me feel weird.
One night-in stand or second date potential? Well apparently a by-accident second dater! Whoops! But if I forgot I had seen it then that means a one-nighter. So slow and dull… even with Gosling with a moustache.
