GIMME FIVE: TV Shows that Should Be Made Into Movies

Veronica Mars’ creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell carved a new path for fans and showrunners when they raised $5.7 million through crowdfunding to bring the TV series to the big screen. Some stories are better off as either a TV show or a movie, but sometimes it can work for both!

A couple of these would translate well to the big screen, with bigger budgets and an all-star re-cast while the others are reunions that fans are itching for. Is there anything you’d want to see added to the list? Shout out below!

This story began as a novel by Douglas Coupland, then CBC turned it into a show and now I think it should be a movie. It follows the story of the misadventures of the staff of an eccentric video game design studio in Vancouver. (Yay! Canada!) The story takes so many strange and comedic twists I think it could be a really fun one-shot film.

Dead Set

This British show looks at what a zombie outbreak would look like from inside the walls of the reality series Big Brother. Zombies are all the rage these days and so is reality television, so blending the two only makes sense. The show only had 5 episodes so I think it would lend nicely to the big screen.

One Tree Hill

I’m biased when it comes to this show, but I think there’s a lot of other people out there that feel the same. Although the series ended in pretty good fashion, it didn’t quite feel complete without Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Peyton (Hilarie Burton).  The show ended a couple years ago, so we’ve still got some time before we’ll see this reunion. (Fingers crossed!)

Freaks and Geeks

There are a few people that are still pretty bitter about this show getting cancelled after only one season, including creator Judd Apatow. Jason Segel, Seth Rogen and James Franco would totally be up for a feature-film reunion, so I’m sure the others can be convinced. The script is practically written already, so anytime now guys!

Friends

I’m pretty sure a Friends movie would be one of the best reunions to ever see on screen. All the rumours or hoaxes make it hard to get a read on if it will ever actually happen. The latest says Jennifer Anniston is slowly being convinced, but I think I’m going to need to see it to believe it.
