Our top pick for Day 7 of the 2013 Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Come back daily for new suggestions.
FOUND (7 p.m.)
The first and only Wednesday night of this year’s TAD Film Fest is dubbed “Gory Night,” a fact that fans will either lap up like Billy Loomis in the premise of corn syrup or insta-vom at the thought of. For us, however, just the word “gory” is a recipe for a must-see, especially when it comes with a premise as intriguingly as the plot for Found.
While our first TADFF ’13 pick, We Are What We Are, focused on the blood bond of sisterhood, Found tracks the dangerous relationship between two brothers. You see, the 12-year-old man character discovers his older bro is a serial killer after finding a severed head in his closet. Apparently this kid has always loved horror movies, but the question is, will he be able to hack it when real-life horror seeps into his still-developing life? I’m already scared to know the answer after watching the haunting trailer (it doesn’t help that the lead boy looks like my younger brother and already pulls at my heartstrings).
