THE BATTERY (9:30 p.m.)
To be honest, I find a lot of modern zombie flicks to be relatively braindead. There’s just been a horde of them coming out these past couple of years — likely a direct result of the success of The Walking Dead — and the quantity has far outweighed the quality. But I have a feeling I’ll want to go to bat for The Battery.
I used the word “bat” for a reason. No, there aren’t any creatures of the night coming after the zombies here (thank god). But there are two relatively angry baseball players hellbent on surviving the apocalypse. The twist? To do that, they’ll also have to learn to survive each other. Sounds like the perfect antidote to those average, mindless zom-drams.
