Our top pick for Day 2 of the 2013 Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Come back daily for new suggestions.
BIG ASS SPIDER (7 p.m.)
We’re technically terrified of this (cannibals, we can handle, but spiders … ), but it’s getting a lot of buzz for its ridiculous name and creature feature feel. Add in the fun B cast (Ray Wise of Twin Peaks, Greg Grunberg of Heroes) and it could very well crawl out of the Toronto After Dark-ness to become fall’s Sharknado.
We just hope it’s more along the lines of Eight-Legged Freaks than it is Arachnophobia. Honestly, whoever decided to classify Arachnophobia as a comedy should have a big ass black widow sicked on their ‘nads.
