What it’s about? A high-octane London cop, Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is involuntarily transferred to a sleepy village where he is assigned with a new, nitwitted partner (Nick Frost).  Nicholas starts to suspect some unruly activity happening amongst the village and starts to discover that there is more about this “sleepy” town than meets the eye.

Who’s in it? Onscreen and offscreen pals Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

How come you haven’t heard of (or just seen) it? Unless you haven’t seen Shaun of the Dead (which, if that is the case, you should watch it now!) I’m not sure why you wouldn’t have seen/heard of it.  To be honest, I can’t even remember how I got to watching this film.  I might have been hanging around a lot of British people at the time that introduced me to the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost dynamic duo.  So I suggest you make friends with someone overseas so they can take you by the hand and show you the magical world of British comedy.

Why you need to watch it immediately!

  • It’s funny as hell
  • You’ll get to watch Simon Pegg successfully play a straight-laced tool as opposed to an idiotic tool–both funny in their own right
  • The word “twat” will become part of your everyday vocabulary
  • You’ll get to experience some quirky editing techniques and a visual style that screams; this is an Edgar Wright film
  • The small nuances of the film that you’ll keep catching every time you watch it
  • The Simon Pegg and Nick Frost dynamic is a match made in heaven
